Graphical User Interface Engineer, FL

Modus Operandi, located in Melbourne, FL, is seeking a Graphical User Interface (GUI) Engineer to join our engineering team. The successful candidate will have exceptional skills in GUI Design and Object-Oriented Software Engineering.

Job Description:

Specify, design, and implement the Graphical User Interfaces for new and innovative systems to support the analysis, enrichment, and fusion of military intelligence information for cyber warfare and command and control (C2) applications.

Responsibilities:

• GUI Specification – Work closely with internal and external customers to define the best possible GUI for new products. Specify the GUI requirements, storyboards, user scenarios, and use cases as appropriate. Construct prototypes as necessary. Present specification artifacts and prototypes to internal customers, external customers, and engineering team.
• GUI Design – Apply GUI design best practices to establish a common look and feel across all Modus Operandi products.
• Software Design – Design the software required to implement the GUI using Object-Oriented Design best practices.
• Tool Selection – Evaluate potential tools for use in implementing the GUI. Present analysis and recommendations to internal customers and engineering team.

Required Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Engineering
• Demonstrable knowledge of GUI design principles such as design consistency, user feedback, information filtering, forgiveness, and conceptual modeling
• 4+ years of software team development experience
• Demonstrable knowledge of Java/C++
  
• Ability to travel part-time
